What are the biggest differences between Thermomix® TM5 and the Thermomix® TM7?

The Thermomix® TM7 features a modern design, an array of new cooking modes, and an enhanced digital ecosystem.

Unlike the TM5, it introduces innovations such as open cooking, manual browning, and unlocked cooking, alongside significantly upgraded safety and convenience features.

Does the TM7 have more cooking modes or abilities?

Yes! The TM7 boasts 20 cooking modes compared to the TM5’s limited range. It’s more flexible and versatile, covering everything from fermenting and slow cooking to sous-vide and browning, functions which are not available on the TM5.

How does guided cooking compare on the TM7?

The TM7 comes with integrated Cookidoo® connectivity for guided cooking, allowing access to over 100,000 recipes directly on its large touch screen, with no additional accessories needed.

When you move from the TM5 to the TM7, you will no longer need to use a separate Cook-Key. Cookidoo® is now seamlessly integrated through WiFi.

What is “open cooking” and how does it improve meal prep?

Open Cooking is exclusive to the TM7. It enables you to see, stir, taste, and add ingredients during cooking, without stopping the appliance. The blades remain off and it’s available up to 100°C, making multi-step or hands-on recipes much easier

Can I now brown food manually in the Thermomix®?

Yes! The TM7 supports manual browning in both manual and open cooking modes. You can sauté, caramelise and brown ingredients your way, unlocking new recipe possibilities. This feature is absent from the TM5.

Is the TM7 quieter?

Definitely. The TM7 uses a new Vorwerk silent synchronous motor, making it much quieter than the TM5’s reluctance motor. This is especially welcome for open-plan kitchens and busy households.

How has safety improved?

The Thermomix® TM7 introduces several important safety upgrades:

Magnetic Lid for more secure closure
Cool Touch Bowl to prevent burns
Electronic motor protection

There is also an enhanced interface with larger display for easier reading and therefore fewer mistakes.

Is the TM7 easier to use?

The TM7’s 10-inch multi-touch display is a massive leap from the TM5’s 3.5-inch screen, making cooking instructions, weighing, and mode selection simpler and more immersive. You can also customise the home screen, including text size.

Do the TM7 design changes have practical benefits?

Yes. The TM7 has:

Larger, rectangular Varoma (4.6L vs 3.3L) for more steaming space
Smaller, lighter base with built-in glider for easy movement
Eco-friendly ribbed casing made with 30% recycled materials
A black colour scheme, chosen based on user feedback

How does connectivity compare?

The TM7 connects directly via WiFi and Bluetooth for recipes and updates. The TM5 needs the optional Cook-Key for WiFi which is not as streamlined.

Are TM5 accessories compatible?

Some of the optional accessories are compatible. The TM5/TM6 Blade Cover & Peeler and the Thermomix® Sensor work with TM7. The Cutter & Spiralizer will need an upgrade to the TM7 version.

How do I upgrade, and is there an official trade-in?

We expect there will be trade up offers from time to time that will be available for existing Thermomix® owners. In the past this has been available for a limited time once a year.

You are required to send your old Thermomix® back to Thermomix® when you take up a trade up offer for a new Thermomix® TM7.
