What key features does the TM7 have that the TM6 does not?
The Thermomix® TM7 introduces several innovative features not found on the TM6, including:
- Open Cooking: Lets you see, stir, taste, and add ingredients during cooking without stopping. This is perfect for hands-on recipes. The blades pause and it’s available up to 100°C.
- Manual Browning in Any Mode: TM7 lets you brown, caramelise, and sauté with more flexibility. This is now possible both in guided and manual modes.
- Unlocked Cooking: Temporarily stop the motor by removing the lid, check your dish, and simply resume, no restarting required. Available up to 120°C and speed 2.
- Real-Time Weighing: Weigh ingredients as you add them, directly on the large, easy-to-read 10-inch touch display.
- Cool Touch Bowl: New insulated bowl design makes handling hot food safer and more comfortable.
- Quieter Operation: The Vorwerk silent synchronous motor is significantly quieter than the TM6, ideal for busy households and open kitchens.
- Magnetic Lid: For safer, more convenient use—no more waiting for locking arms.
Does the TM7 really have more modes and recipes?
Yes! The TM7 offers 20 cooking modes (three more than TM6 – Open Cooking, Steaming, and Browning). Plus, it features over 200 pre-loaded recipes (TM6 has 120), making it even easier to cook without needing internet access.
The TM6 was released with 9 modes and now has 17. It continued to get better with every update. It is expected that new modes and accessories will be added to the TM7 over time. It will just keep getting better and better.
How does the TM7 improve daily convenience and versatility?
- Larger, Rectangular Varoma®: With a 45% larger capacity than TM6, it’s easier to steam large meals or batch cook for families.
- Lighter, More Compact Base: Despite offering more capacity, the TM7 is more compact and lighter, and features an inbuilt glider for effortless moving around your bench.
- Customisable User Interface: Personalise your home screen and select text size for easier navigation.
Will I lose any functionality if I upgrade?
No. You will gain additional features. All the digital modes, recipes, and connectivity you love in the TM6 remain, and are improved with extra modes, enhanced safety, and a better user interface on the TM7.
Many TM6 accessories will still work with the TM7, but note that some (like the Cutter & Spiraliser) will require new versions. The Blade Cover & Peeler, and the Sensor remain compatible.
What about the TM6? Should I sell, gift or keep it?
Many new TM7 owners keep their TM6 as a second machine. This is ideal for anyone who batch cooks, meal preps, hosts large gatherings, or wants continuous use (e.g., making bread dough in one while preparing soup in another). You could also sell or pass it on to family or friends, but having two Thermomix® machines often brings the most convenience and flexibility.
How do I upgrade, and is there a trade-in available?
We expect there will be trade up offers from time to time that will be available for existing Thermomix® owners. In the past this has been available for a limited time once a year.
You are required to send your old Thermomix® back to Thermomix® when you take up a trade up offer for a new Thermomix® TM7.

How can I get started with the TM7?
All TM7 orders in Australia go through a consultant for personalized advice and support. If you order with ThermoJo, you’ll get free access to a comprehensive online video training program, covering every function, feature, and recipe suggestion to help you get the most out of your new TM7.
As your consultant I am also available for ongoing support as you need.
