The Basic Cookbook
For an introduction to Cookidoo® and to learn how to search for recipes and collections, scroll down to the video at the bottom of this post.
As we feature recipe collections for the Thermomix®, I thought it would be best to start with The Basic Cookbook which contains all that you need to get started with the Thermomix, along with recipes you will continue to cook for years to come.
This Cookidoo® Collection contains all the recipes that are included in the printed cookbook you receive with your new Thermomix®.
I also suggest that you pull out the cookbook for a read through as it contains so much more information, aside from the recipes, to help you everyday in the kitchen.
This collection contains 120 recipes and is described as:
With The Basic Cookbook (TM6 edition), you’ll feel inspired to unleash the possibilities of your kitchen and cook incredible meals for your family every day.

- Sauces, pastes and dips
- Soups

Some of my favourite Thermomix recipes in this collection
I have made so many of the recipes in The Basic Cookbook over the years. Particularly those that are the same or similar to the cookbook that came with my TM31 that I owned for 12 years. We didn't have Cookidoo® and its 90,000 recipes back then!
Some of my favourites are:
- Nut butter: I make nut butter all the time, it is a staple in the fridge. Click here to read all about the nut butters you can make.
- Mayonnaise: again a staple in my fridge. Click here to watch me make it – so easy!
- Caramelised red onion chutney: I discovered this one last year and it is amazing.
- Boiled rice: I use this recipe to make rice. Search for other options too.
- Mushroom risotto: I have used this recipe so many times, but never with mushrooms! I put in whatever I like at that step and get a perfect risotto every time. Note there is a specific TM6 recipe that uses High Heat in two steps.
- Creamy tomato and salami fettuccine: this is a classic, so quick and easy. It is also very forgiving when changing the ingredients. I make with tin tomatoes.
- Nasi Goreng: easy, cheap and makes a lot.
- Banana bread: a regular for sure – quick and easy and so good.
- Fruity Dream: for when you need dessert now! Note there is a specific TM6 version of this recipe which cooks the egg white at the beginning for the recipe.
- Citrus Margarita: the ice crushing capability of the Thermomix® is incredible. Yum!
Cookidoo®: the Thermomix® recipe platform
Cookidoo® is an online recipe platform that includes over 90,000 recipes for the Thermomix®.
By connecting your Thermomix® TM6 to Cookidoo® , you can use guided cooking to take you through recipes step-by-step. You can also use Cookidoo® with the TM5 Cook-Key, and manually as a resource for all models of the Thermomix®. With my TM31 I used it on my iPad sitting next to my Thermomix® as I made each recipe with the manual controls.
As well as being able to search for individual recipes in Cookidoo®, you can also search for Collections. Collections bring together recipes around a specific theme. In some cases they are also the digital version of full printed recipe books that have previously been published and sold by Thermomix®.
I find browsing through the collections a great way to find new things to cook.
In this video I introduce you to Cookidoo® and show you how to search for recipes and collections.
