Do I need to have a large network?
The Thermomix® sales model is all about Network Marketing. This means that the consultant conducts a demo (in home or online) for someone who is either interested in a Thermomix® or already has one. They, as host, then invite two or more guests to learn about the Thermomix®. Those guests may then either buy a Thermomix® TM6, decide to host their own demo with friends, or be not interested at this time. Hosting a demo qualifies a host for Host Rewards as a thank you for introducing the consultant to more people.
Having a large network when you start is a great way to get your business up and running quickly. You can share your news through your own social and in person networks, and you will likely be surprised about who is interested in learning more.
However, if you do not have a large network, you can still succeed as a Thermomix® Consultant. If you have some supportive friends and family who are willing to host a demo for you early on, then you never know what might happen from that.
I don’t have a large network and my first demo was hosted by my brother and sister-in-law. They had bought a TM6 through me to upgrade from the TM31. None of their three guests came along with the intention of buying a Thermomix® – and all three did over the coming days. The Thermomix® TM6 really can sell itself once you get to a demo.
Another alternative to network marketing exclusively is to incorporate social media and online marketing into your business. More about that down below.
Do I need to do lots of Thermomix® Cooking Demos
Bookings for Thermomix® Cooking Demonstrations are at the core of the networking marketing model. So yes, it really can work well if you can continue to book demos from new customers and guests from previous demonstrations.
When you have a new customer, you can offer them the chance to host a demo with their friends, which expands your network. This cycle can then continue as more people see the Thermomix® TM6. At each demo you may get a sale or a booking for a cooking demo – or both.

However not everyone wants a demo, and some customers are happy to buy and are not interested in a demo or Host Rewards. That’s fine – and your job is to work out what support they want from you.
Remember that you can conduct Thermomix® Cooking Demonstrations online, as well as in person. Online demos are often shorter and take less time for you as a consultant.
You may also secure sales and bookings for online demos from your online marketing and social media marketing.
Do I need to have lots of time?
Like most things, what you get out of it will depend on what you put into it. It is also important to decide how you want this to integrate with your other life.
For some people, being a Thermomix® Consultant is a side hustle alongside other work and family commitments. For others, it becomes a business and a key focus for them each day.
Many people join as a consultant as a great way to earn their new Thermomix® TM6. For many that means doing the 60 Day Program and leaving, which is perfectly fine. Although many intend to leave after 60 Days and are still a consultant years later!
Do I need to be a social media expert?
Many consultants will have a social media presence. This is considered pretty normal these days, and the Thermomix® training will help you with establishing your social media presence. It is great to follow a few consultants and see what they do. Everyone is different, but it does help you get some ideas.
You do not have to be an expert. Just have a go and start posting about what you are cooking, your meal planning, some tips and so forth. Get all your friends and family to follow your business accounts so you get a head start! You will learn a lot along the way, so just have a go and you will soon find what works for you and what you enjoy sharing on social media.
Do I need to have my own website?
No, you do not need to have a website. Most consultants will not have a website and instead focus on social media for their online presence.
I have chosen to have a website for a couple of reasons:
- I have a background in creating online businesses and have the experience to build a website (with my husband doing the super tech bits!)
- I also know how beneficial a website can be to establishing an online business, and my goal is to operate mostly online as a Thermomix® Consultant.
- I wanted to create a blog, so that the content I create has a lifecycle much longer than what exists if you only post on social media.
- I want to create regular content for my blog so that Google and other search engines will list my website highly when anyone searches for Thermomix®. This is starting to happen and may be how you found this post!
